Indian therapist online
An Indian therapist online — no translation needed.
Looking for a therapist who is Indian isn't about exclusion — it's about not spending your sessions explaining your life. If you've ever edited a story mid-sentence because the context was too long, you already know why this matters.
Why it matters
Why an Indian therapist changes the work
You don't have to explain the context
Respect for elders, arranged marriages, the family WhatsApp group, what 'settling down' means — with an Indian therapist these are starting points, not homework. Sessions go deeper, sooner.
The stigma is understood, not studied
Therapy still carries weight in many Indian families — the fear of what people will say, the idea that talking to family should be enough. An Indian therapist has lived inside that logic and knows how to work with it, not against it.
Family dynamics are a given, not an exotic detail
Enmeshment, duty, the parent who calls daily, the sibling comparison that still stings — these aren't curiosities here. They're the actual material of the work, treated with the seriousness they deserve.
Choosing a therapist who fits
Fit matters more than almost anything in therapy. A free intro call is the honest way to test it — you get a felt sense of the person before money or commitment enters the picture.
You deserve a room — even a video one — where the whole of you can arrive at once: the Indian part, the abroad part, and the part that's simply tired.
Working with Srividya
A therapist who has lived this life too
I'm Srividya, an Indian therapist based in the UK, working online with Indians and NRIs worldwide. I was raised in India and have lived in Canada, Switzerland, the US and the UK, so the between-cultures life is my own story too.
I hold a Master's in Counselling Psychology and a Master's in Public Health, with advanced training in CBT and DBT, and ten years of experience supporting people through anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, burnout and relationship difficulties.
People often come to me after trying therapy that felt like anthropology — hours spent explaining instead of healing. Here, the explaining is already done, so we can get to the part that actually helps.
How sessions work
Online, worldwide, on UK time
Sessions are online by secure video, open to clients worldwide. I work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings and across the weekend, UK time — with slots that suit North American mornings and Gulf evenings.
Start with a free 15-minute intro call — the simplest way to find out whether working together feels right. Individual, couples and teen counselling are all available; details and fees are on the services page.
